Trade unions of Uzbekistan vamp up their federation

On November 11, the VIII Gathering of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent.

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov took part in its work. The event was chaired by the head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan Kudratilla Rafikov.

Social partners of trade unions - representatives of ministries and departments, and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, governors of regions and the city of Tashkent - also took part in the meeting as delegates.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a welcoming message to the participants of the VIII General Assembly of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan. It was read to the audience by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.

It is worth noting that for the first time in the history of independent Uzbekistan, the head of state sent his message to the participants of the Kurultai of trade unions. It proposed to designate November 11 as Trade Union Day. The law on this was adopted by the Legislative Chamber of the Uzbek Parliament. In the welcoming message of the President, the initiative to establish the Academy of Trade Unions was also put forward.

The chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions Kudratilla Rafikov made a report "New Uzbekistan - new trade unions: the activities of the Federation in 2016-2020 and its priority tasks at the current stage of national development."

The report highlighted that the radical reforms in all directions, efforts and initiatives to ensure human rights carried out over the past four years under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are evidence of a firm desire to improve the standard of living of our people, their well-being and prosperity not tomorrow, but today.

It was noted that as a result of the ongoing large-scale work on the path of building a rule-of-law democratic state and unprecedented creative activity, people have increased faith in tomorrow and satisfaction with their lives.

During the event, information was also heard on the activities of the Control and Auditing Commission of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan in 2016-2020.

General Director of the International Labour Organization Guy Ryder, General Secretary of the International Confederation of Trade Unions Sharan Barrow, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia Mikhail Shmakov, General Secretary of the General Confederation of Trade Unions Vladimir Shcherbakov, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauleta also sent their video greetings to the delegates. In their messages, they noted the achievements of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan over the past four years and the high attention of the country's leadership to ensuring the protection of workers' rights.

During the event, the strategic directions of the Federation of Trade Unions for 2021-2025, a new version of the Charter of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, a new version of the Regulation on the Control and Auditing Commission of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, as well as relevant decisions were approved.

Within the framework of strategic directions for 2021-2025, priority tasks in the activities of trade unions of the new Uzbekistan have been identified.

During the event, the issues of electing the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions, the general council of the Federation of Trade Unions, the Control and Auditing Commission of the Federation of Trade Unions and its chairman were also considered.

Thus, Kudratilla Rafikov was unanimously elected chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.

At the end of the meeting, an appeal was adopted by the delegates to the workers of Uzbekistan, trade union associations and social partners.
