On 21 September 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held talks in New York with Thomas West, Special Representative of the United States Department of State for Afghanistan, and the United States Special Envoy for Afghan Women and Girls and human rights Rina Amery.

During the meeting, the prospects for further expansion of Uzbek-American cooperation to achieve long-term peace in Afghanistan, restore its economy, and assist in resolving the difficult social and humanitarian situation in this country were discussed.

The US Special Representatives stressed that the International Conference on Afghanistan held in July this year in Tashkent provided an effective platform for developing coordinated approaches of the world community regarding the settlement of the situation in the country.

Attention was focused on the need to intensify and systematize international efforts to support the Afghan people. In this context, the importance of using the capabilities of the Multifunctional Transport and Logistics Hub created in the city of Termez for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan is indicated.
