Government of Uzbekistan, Eurasian Economic Commission sign memorandum of cooperation

On 30 April 2021, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

The document was signed within the framework of the visit to the Russian Federation (Kazan) of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov to participate in the next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council as an observer state.

The document is aimed at developing trade and economic interaction between Uzbekistan as an observer state and the EEC.

The memorandum also envisages cooperation on the exchange of information in such areas as customs and technical regulation, consumer protection, circulation of medicines and medical devices, transport, energy, industry and agro-industrial complex, intellectual property and other sectors of the economy.

The memorandum is not an international treaty and does not impose financial and legal obligations on the Republic of Uzbekistan and the EEC.

In order to effectively implement these provisions of the Memorandum, the parties also adopted a plan of joint activities for 2021-2023, including specific dates for organizing consultations and exchange of delegations.
