Uzbek President signs law to amend legislative acts

The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Law on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of the Activities of the Councils of People’s Deputies".

According to the amendments introduced by the Law to the Law on local government, the tasks of providing organizational, technical and other services to the activities of the regional, district and city Councils of people’s deputies were transferred from the apparatus of khokimiyats to the secretariat of the corresponding Council of people’s deputies.

The secretariats are legal entities and their activities are financed from the respective local budget.

The structure, staff, wages and material and technical support of the Secretariat employees, as well as the costs of their maintenance, are approved by the relevant Council of People’s Deputies.

The law comes into force on the day of its official publication.
