On 29 July 2020, a meeting of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.
The meeting, held in the form of videoconference, was opened by the chairman of the upper house of parliament Tanzila Narbaeva with an introductory speech and noted that the reforms carried out in our country in recent years to further improve the judicial and legal system contribute, first of all, to strengthening the confidence of citizens in the judiciary.
The decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On additional measures to further improve the activities of the courts and increase the efficiency of justice" from 24 July 2020 was a logical continuation of work in this direction. It was noted that this document will become a real shield of justice for the court and is important in democratizing the judicial system.
In addition, the need was emphasized to bring the essence and meaning of this document to all judges, law enforcement agencies and employees of other bodies, to conduct explanatory work among the population. They talked about the need to make changes and additions to the codes and a number of laws in order to further improve the activities of the courts.
The need to establish communication with international organizations, to strengthen the position of Uzbekistan in the indices of the international non-governmental organization "World Justice Project" and other international ratings was emphasized.
It was also noted that by the relevant resolution of the Kengash of the Senate, the practice of quarterly hearing the information of the relevant chairmen of the courts at meetings of local Kengashes of people’s deputies was introduced.
