On 23 January 2023, on the eve of a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tashkent, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin.
During the conversation, the current state and prospects for the further development of Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership were discussed.
The positive attitude of the parties to close cooperation in order to comprehensively implement the agreements reached between the Leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was confirmed.
The schedule and various aspects of the planned activities at the highest and high levels were considered.
Proposals were discussed to build up trade and economic cooperation, cooperation in the field of transport and the development of interregional ties.
An exchange of views took place on the interaction between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan within the framework of international institutions, as well as on certain issues of regional policy.
It was noted that the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the ECO gave a new impetus to its activities, serving to intensify mutually beneficial cooperation in the ECO space in all areas.
