The next round of the EU-Central Asia High-Level Dialogue was held in Brussels

On 17 May 2022, another round of the EU-Central Asia High-Level Dialogue on Politics and Security was held in Brussels. 

The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Deputy Secretary General, Political Director of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora. Uzbekistan was represented by a delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Gayrat Fozilov. 

Participants discussed recent developments in the EU and Central Asia countries, cooperation between them on common security challenges, including the situation in Afghanistan, as well as inter-regional cooperation on a wide range of issues, including water resources, energy, border management and trade facilitation.

They welcomed the forthcoming EU-Central Asia Ministerial Conference on Interconnectivity and Sustainable Development in Samarkand, aimed at establishing closer ties between the countries of the European Union and Central Asia as an important factor for peace, sustainability and prosperity.

The meeting participants also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, as well as on the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
